In May 2025, Lycée Aline Mayrisch organised and hosted a vibrant session of the Model European Parliament (MEP), bringing together young delegates from schools across Luxembourg and Europe to simulate the workings of the European Parliament. Three young women represented the Lycée Technique d’Ettelbruck : Fiona Qeraj (3GCM), Jonida Qeraj (3GPS) and Leyla Isik (2GSO). Against the backdrop of a rapidly evolving geopolitical and environmental landscape, the session addressed some of the most pressing challenges currently facing the European Union.
The MEP 2025 was not just a simulation; it was a powerful demonstration of youth engagement and European solidarity. As these young students return to their schools, they will carry with them a renewed sense of purpose and a shared vision for Europe.
Participants enhanced their public speaking and debate skills. Taking part in structured parliamentary debates helped them refine their communication, persuasion, and critical thinking skills. They also developed their teamwork and diplomatic skills by collaborating with peers from diverse cultural backgrounds in committees.
Some quotes from the LTETT delegation are given below:
Leyla I.
It was an enriching experience which made me realize that speaking up and defending your opinion is so important. I hope other people get the same chance I did to experience the MEP at least once in their life.
Jonida Q.
Participating in the MEP, especially in the AFCO committee, was a truly enriching experience. It involved a lot of hard work, but it pushed me to grow intellectually and sharpen key skills like public speaking and critical thinking. I really enjoyed the debates, collaboration, and the opportunity to be part of something meaningful. Thank you for this beautiful opportunity!
Fiona Q.
It was a beautiful experience. I learned how the European Parliament worked and got to learn a lot of new things and to meet new people. I would suggest this experience to everyone who’s passion is politics and English is fluent. Thank you.
